Sir David Ochieng’s Mission Statements

Sir David Ochieng’ is an international philanthropist of freewill society whose mission is to follow his predecessors and role models: Jesus Christ, Muhammad bin Abdul, Mahatma Gandhi, Malcolm X and countless others in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek justice, and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God and unity of humanity. He pursues this mission through integrated, holistic commitment to:

Informational Development
Children are the present hope for the world’s future, yet they are the most vulnerable to conflict, disaster and poverty. Changing a child’s life for the better is at the heart of the process of informational development. Transformation development is a process that helps people and their communities recognize the resources that lie with themselves to make change possible. The scope of transformation development includes psycho-social, spiritual, economic, political, and environmental aspects of life at the local, national, regional, and global levels. Sir David Ochieng works along the poor to meet this. Sir David Ochieng’ and his foundation help equip families and communities towards economic sustainability to enable them to support the needs for their children.

Emergency Relief
People whose lives are endangered by disasters or conflict need immediate, skilled help. Sir David Ochieng’ through his foundation is committed to respond to any major emergency across the country, through their own programs or in co-operation with partner agencies. Recently, Sir David Ochieng responded to the emergency needs of more than 20 families affected by drought and vulnerability (Kibos, Kisumu). He has also responded to the needs of at least 15 families severely affected by poverty (helplessness) in Sept 2013. In 2012, Sir David Ochieng’ also attended to the needs of the evacuees of Fallen building in Kisumu town next to Imperial Hotel. Sir David Ochieng’ has also been active participant in building peace in Kenya and responding to the needs of children, families and communities affected by conflict. Sir David Ochieng’s focus on development is steadfast, even in emergency response situations. To do this Sir David Ochieng’:

2.Operates with sensitivity to the local culture and relationships
3.Works whenever possible through national partners
4.Gives immediate attention to economic recovery
5.Encourages peace building through reconciliation and enhancement of civil society
6.Provides local preparedness training in disaster-prone areas

Promotion of Justice
It is not enough to work with people to address the symptoms of their poverty. Sir David Ochieng’ also addresses the complex, systematic factors that perpetuate poverty. Sir David Ochieng’ supports community awareness of the collective ability to address unjust practices and begin working for change. Sir David Ochieng’ speaks out on issues such as child labor, child protection, food relief for poor families, and the use of children as family income generators. Sir David Ochieng’ as a compliant has endorsed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child as fundamental expressions of the freedoms and responsibilities that should exist in every society. Whenever possible, Sir David Ochieng’ seeks opportunities to help reduce the level of illiteracy, poverty, conflict and to contribute to peaceful resolution and reconciliation. Sir David Ochieng’ in the Western Kenya is the lead agency in the implementation of Teach Now, an initiative combating child labor through education, along with partners namely: Luisa, and others. Teach Now has helped save thousands poor children from the bondage of labor and keep them in school. The project is funded by the US Department of Labor. Sir David Ochieng’ Western Kenya also implements Child Protection Policy to ensure safety, well-being and development of children under its care.

Strategic Initiatives
As a philanthropic public personality, Sir David Ochieng’ shares a special relationship with local churches of all Christian traditions and Muslim society in Western Kenya. Sir David Ochieng’, in partnership with the church and Mosque, works toward reducing poverty and advocating for justice through his developments, relief and advocacy efforts. World Vision invites Christian leaders to participate in conferences, consultations, training programmes and various educational opportunities. These diverse activities, which are typically the outcome of local initiatives, involve clergy, cleric and lay people. Sir David Ochieng’ welcomes opportunities to contribute to the life and work of the church and mosque in general. And a context that provides safety, social justice, and participation in civil society. Witness to Humanity and Prophet Hood

Sir David Ochieng’ believes that God, in the person of prophets, offers hope of renewal, restoration, and reconciliation. It is these message that Sir David Ochieng’ seeks to make known by life, deed, word, and sign. Sir David Ochieng’s work of human transformation is holistic and ecumenical. It is holistic by valuing the spiritual as well as the physical and the personal as well as the social. It is ecumenical in its willingness to partner with all Christian churches and Islamic Mosques in fulfilling the mission of Prophet Hood.

Impact On Health Care
Today, nearly 19,000 children under age 5 will die of mostly preventable causes, such as diarrhea, malaria, and pneumonia. We focus on child and maternal health, using basic medicines, supplies, and interventions to prevent and treat illnesses at the community level. Impact on Education
67 million primary-school-age children are not enrolled in school. These children are at greater risk for exploitation, early marriage, and lower income-earning potential. We address barriers to education and work with communities and local governments to improve the quality of education children receive. Impact on Clean Water
More than 6,000 children under age 5 die each day from diseases spread by unsafe water or lack of basic sanitation and hygiene. That’s why we help provide access to clean water, basic sanitation facilities, and hygiene education-because these are some of the most effective ways to prevent child disease and death. Impact On Economic Development
1.3 billion People worldwide are living on less than $1.25 a day: When you’re that far behind, it’s hard to get ahead. That’s why we facilitate savings groups, improve market development, and provide access to microfinance, helping to break the cycle of poverty.
